Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes you will take a 25-minute motorcoach ride to "The Lost City of the Incas", which was discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. Located on the left bank of the Vilcanota river lies the wonderful old city of Machu Picchu, which in quechua means "Old Mountain". According to research, Machu Picchu would have been one of the vacation residences of Pachacutec, the first Inca emperor between 1438 and 1470.

However, some of its finest buildings and the evident ceremonial purpose of the main access road to the village, prove that it was used as a religious shrine. Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering because of its unique architectural and landscaping features. Prominent constructions among its buildings are the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds, among others of singular architecture and importance.Your guide will narrate and explain all about this splendid citadel, which is a truly amazing experience.

Mauricio, the trip was outstanding. The sequence of locations worked very well with the trip building all the time to the wonderful Machu Picchu. All of your arrangements and hotels were very good and the pace of the trip was perfect. All of our guides were very enthusiastic and provided us with lots of local color and opinion which helped us understand the area better.

The only suggestions I would have is on the choice of boat transportation at Lake Titicaca and the flight to Lima on the last day. It would be worth the upgrade to a faster boat if that was not an unreasonable charge. The trip out to, and back from, the island of Taquille was quite long. The faster boat would have cut the time by a significant amount. On the last day the transfer flight to Lima from Cuzco could have been closer to our departure time of midnight. That would have given more time in Cuzco which would have been more comfortable than the airport in Lima. Both of these suggestions are small refinements on a very well planned trip.

Thank you for your very professional handling of all the many details and your excellent communications during the process. I will recommend your services to anyone who is travelling to South America. Robert

Mauricio, we had a very memorable trip. We feel Latin Discover did an excellent job.We liked the pace of the trip and the guides were excellent.  Loved all the hotels. Really loved Sol y Luna. The absolute best!!!! And the best dinner also. What a lovely setting.

Our favorite guides were Freddie and Richard (Lake Titicaca). We would not hesitate to recommend Latin Discover to anyone traveling to South America. If, at a future date, we have plans to travel to the areas you cover for tours, we would sign up with you!

Thank you again for your help in getting my camera battery and charger to me. I would not have been able to take photos of Michu Picchu!!! Judy

Mauricio,

All the very best for 2007 to you, good health above all! I will write in a little more detail when I''m a bit more organized. As an overall statement though, from point of pick-up in Lima Airport to point of drop off at same, I could not have been more pleased with my trip.

Latin Discover never missed a beat; everything was on time and the guides were knowledgeable and helpful and the pace of the trip was just right. Hotels exceeded expectations. Future travel plans to South America will certainly include Latin Discover.

Many thanks for all of your efforts in setting the trip up for us.

Best wishes
Mike Bridger

We went to Peru with Latin Discover, and were delighted by the programme "Wonders of Peru" as well as the quality of service. The hotels were nice, transportation very efficient and always on time and most of our guides were really interesting. We chose Latin Discover because we found their internet site very atttractive. We are totally satisfied with our choice!

We are now back home and enthusiastic about our visit to Peru. Everything was perfectly organized. Transportation was fine and always on time. All the hotels were nice and well located (except El Cabildo en Arequipa, which is a little far from the city center) We were lucky with the weather, except in Machu Picchu where we had a lot of rain and clouds. Perhaps should you warn your customers that this is the rainy season and that bad weather is very likely there...But we could manage to have some sun in late afternoon, and we really appreciated the Sanctuary lodge. Thank you for everything Dan, we will recommend you to our friends. Jean Francois

The service we received on our 3 week trip to Peru was excellent! Accomodations exceeded our expectations as did the ease of transportation. We particularly enjoyed the experience at the Manu Wildlife Center.
