Day 1:  Lima - Cuzco
Upon arrival in Cusco, assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
City tour of Cusco, including the Santo Domingo convent monastery. This former Colonial monastery was previously the Korikancha temple, one of the most important temples devoted to the worship of the sun. According to the chronicles, it was covered in gold Leaf and filled with golden representa- tions of nature. Visit also the Cathedral, the most important temple of the city which houses the headquarters of the Diocese.

After touring the most interesting sites of the city, you will be driven to the countryside outside Cusco to visit some of the remarkable Inca ruins in the area. Included are the cult centre of Sacsayhuaman, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko, and the Red Fortress of Puca Pucara. At the end of the tour, transfer to the hotel. Finally the tour will take you to visit Tambomachy, It consists of a series of aqueducts, canals and waterfalls that run through the terraced rocks. The function of the site is uncertain: it may have served as a military outpost guarding the approaches to Cusco, as a spa resort for the Incan political elite, or both.

(Included meals: N/A)
Day 2:  Cuzco - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Take a trip to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will begin your tour visiting Awanakancha, where South American camelidae are bred. Learn about the llamas, alpacas and vicuñas superb fibres, as well as the ancient weaving techniques which are still in use.

Proceed to Pisac where you will have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at its local handicrafts market. Enjoy lunch at a pleasant hostelry in the countryside and continue to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. The site was built just as the Spaniards arrived and evidence of how it was is still visible. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

(Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 3:  Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu -Cuzco
Transfer to Ollanta station to board the train to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes you will take a 25-minute motorcoach ride to "The Lost City of the Incas", which was discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911.
Located on the left bank of the Vilcanota river lies the wonderful old city of Machu Picchu, which in quechua means  "Old Mountain".

According to research, Machu Picchu would have been one of the vacation residences of Pachacutec, the first Inca emperor between 1438 and 1470. However, some of its finest buildings and the evident ceremonial purpose of the main access road to the village, prove that it was used as a religious shrine. Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering because of its unique architectural and landscaping features. Prominent constructions among its buildings are the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds, among others of singular architecture and importance.

Your guide will narrate and explain all about this splendid citadel, which is a truly amazing experience. After the guided tour you will have free time to stroll around the archaeological site. Lunch at café Inkaterra. In the afternoon return by train to Ollantaytambo train station and then road transfer to Cusco.

(Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 4:  Cuzco - Fly out from Lima
Transfer from the hotel to the airport and assistance on departure flight.

(Included meals: Breakfast)

Feliz año nuevo, Laura I wanted to write to you before the end of the year. With the holidays and family commitments, I''m sure you understand. As stated by my sister, we did have a wonderful trip, plus very minimal stress, thanks to you and Latin Discover.

I have already recommended your website to new friends from our trip. The tour guides and staff at most of the hotels were very helpful and professional. I especially give high marks to the young and eager tour guides in peru.

The Skorpio expedition was excellent. The staff was very helpful, courteous and made the entire trip exciting and fun. The hotel at Puerto Montt was in a beautiful location, the staff was quite accommodating.

Thank you for all your help and guidance to a wonderful and memorable trip. You will probably hear from us again the next time we head south. Kind regards, Esperanza.

I want you to know that everything went very well. The tour guides that assisted us through our trip both in Peru and Chile were very professional. Our trip became stress free knowing that when we arrived at a destination, someone was there to transport us to our hotel. The hotels were all quite comfortable and met our needs. The only hotel we were not thoroughly satisfied with was with Hotel Posada del Inca Yucay. The staff there was not very friendly and the restaurant was a bit overpriced. I guess they don''t have to try very hard since there were no other restaurants to choose from in such a small town.

The town was charming and we were glad to have been there, just that this one hotel did not match the hospitality we experience everywhere else. Thank you so much for such a wonderful service. I would not hesitate to recommend Latin Discover to friends and family and when we plan another trip to South America, most certainly will consider you.

Sincerely, Luz

Everything was planned perfectly, and I had a wonderful time. Thank you for everything.

We enjoyed our trip very much. The tour was excellent, everything worked smoothly and all of the places we visited were very interesting. The hotels were very nice and we were comfortable the entire time. I think that the only changes I would make, if I were to do it again, would be scheduling things - I would have tried to stay in Lima for at least a day (because of the way I asked for the flights to be scheduled we got into Lima very late and had to leave very early, so it was basically just staying there to sleep for a few hours.

It would've been better to to either fly right to Cusco or stay in Lima for at least a day). Also, I would've probably built a little more free time into our schedule in Cusco so that we could just wander. However, those changes were purely scheduling things and probably would've required us to extend our trip, which wasn't really an option. The only thing that I could possibly critique is that we didn't get a detailed itinerary from the tour company when we arrived in Cusco. An agent met us and ran through everything we were going to do, times, details, etc.

Thanks for all your help. It was a great trip. Our comment: we have chased up the question of written itinerary on arrival, and this was indeed an error. Apart from the itinerary we provided, our local operators always provide a detailed one on arrival with pickup times.

I want to thank you for such a wonderful trip. The sights were great and the service was super. Everything went as planned. We were never left alone or put in a bad situation. One of our flights was canceled but we were put on another in 30 minutes or so.

Your people on the ground could not have been nicer. No one was ever late, hard to believe. I would recommed your company to anyone.

Dan, Thank you so much for handling our trip so efficiently at the last minute. We had a wonderful time. Everything was perfect. There were just a couple of comments we must make. There just wasn''t enough time in Cusco to enjoy the Monastery hotel (which appeared to be wonderful, our room was beautiful) we got in so late that night from Agua Caliente and our driver from the train to Cusco the last night was unsafe. Other than that it was, as I said before, perfect. Everyone was friendly and helpful. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful also. We will be contacting you again in the future for another trip to Peru/Chile/Argentina. Thanks again, Kathy I.

Sandra I am writing (better late than never) to thank you for the efficiency and professionalism shown in organising and looking after us during our visit. We really had a wonderful time and found the hotels to be excellent and trips to be really interesting. Together with our Galapagos cruise before and our visit to Brasil after, it was a very memorable holiday. I will certainly recommend your company to any of my colleagues who may be visiting your country. Thank you and best wishes for 2006. Regards Mrs M Rodrigues

Laura: I wanted to thank you for your assistance with our trip; it was great. The day we went to the Galapagos we discovered that we had been put on the Coral II instead of the Coral I; it was not a problem since the accommodations and personnel were fine but I just wanted you to know that the operator does do some switching without notice.

It turned out that the Coral I had been chartered by a group. All personnel people were great. Thanks again for your help; I would certainly recommend your company to any friends or acquaintances who are thinking of travelling to South America.
