Day 1: Arrive in Puerto Montt - Petrohue (90km / 56 miles)
Pick up your car at the airport or the city office and drive to Petrohue, located in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. You will be accompanied by beautiful views of the Llanquihue Lake and volcanoes. Overnight in Petrohue.

Day 4: Bariloche - Esquel (183 km / 114 mi)
Continuing your journey to the south, you will pass through the town of El Bolson before reaching the junction with the Ruta 40, where you turn towards Esquel. The founding of the town dates back to the arrival of Welsh immigrants in Chubut in 1865. Overnight in or near Esquel.

Day 5: Esquel - Futaleufu (191 km / 119 mi)
From Esquel you will drive further south, passing through the Los Alerces National Park. Take your time for a short exploration of one of the most beautiful national parks of Argentina. You will cross the border into Chile at Los Cipreses to reach Futaleufú in the afternoon. Overnight in Futaleufú.

Day 6: Futaleufu
Today you will have a day to discover Futaleufú and its surroundings or to participate in optional activities like white-water rafting on the Futaleufú River, considered the best river for rafting in Chile. Overnight in Futaleufu.

Day 7: Futaleufu - El Pangue (180 km/112 miles)
From Futaleufú you pass by the crystal clear Lake Yelcho and descend to the Pacific Ocean. South of La Junta you will enter the Queulat National Park with its dense forests. Spend the night on the border of the park in the cabins of El Pangue.

Day 8: El Pangue and Surroundings
Visit the village of Puyuhuapi wPatagonia - Lake General Carreraith its carpet factory and spend time hiking in the Queulat National Park to visit the Hanging Glacier. Overnight in El Pangue.

Day 9: El Pangue - Coyhaique (240 km / 149 miles)
On the first miles of your trip today, the road continues on through the Queulat National Park and then ascends the Cuesta Queulat which offers spectacular views of the forests and the valley. Shortly before arriving at the capital of the Aysén region, Coyhaique, you will pass through the Simpson National Reserve. Overnight in Coyhaique.

Day 10: Coyhaique - Lake General Carrera (265 km / 124 miles)
A beautiful but long drive will call for an early departure. Your trip today will lead you to the immense Lake General Carrera. Stop for magnificent views from the various lookouts along a lengthy and virtually uninhabited stretch of the Carretera Austral. Don’t miss a visit to the Marble Caves close to Puerto Tranquilo, ask for a boat ride at the gas station.  You will spend the night right on Lake General Carrera.

Day 11: Lake General Carrera
Take delight in the beautiful landscapes and explore the surroundings of the lake. Overnight on Lake General Carrera.

Day 12: Lake General Carrera - Estancia in Argentina (290 km / 180 miles)
After breakfast, you will start to drive east towards the border town Chile Chico. the views of the lake are beautiful but the road has many curves, so drive carefully. once you have entered Argentina, the landscape changes into the typical pampas that cover almost all of Argentina´s Patagonia. Visit the small town Perito Moreno. From there it will be a short drive south to the hostería Cueva de las Manos.

Day 13: Hosteria Cueva de las Manos - El Chalten (535 km / 335 miles)
Today, you will set out for an especially long trip to el Chaltén, almost all the way on the route 40, the “Patagonian highway”. el Chaltén is situated at the foot of the Fitz roy Mountain range. overnight at a hostería.

Day 14: Los Glaciares National Park - Fitz Roy
Participate today in one of the Chalten - Patagonian Icefield looking towards Fitz Royhikes that start from El Chaltén to visit the wonderful national park and the Southern Ice Field. You can also join a boat trip to the Viedma Glacier in the morning. Overnight at Chalten.

Day 15: El Chaltén - El Calafate (250 km / 155 miles)
You will drive around Lake Viedma today to reach another huge glacier lake called Lago Argentino. You will spend the night on the shores of the lake in the village El Calafate. Overnight in El Calafate.

Day 16: Los Glaciares National Park - Perito Moreno
Visit the magnificent glacier Perito Moreno, a true natural spectacle; a trek on the ice can be organized. Overnight in El Calafate.

Day 17: El Calafate - Torres del Paine National Park (348 km / 216 miles)
You will drive into Chile via Cerro Castillo through the vast steppe or Pampa and arrive in one of the most beautiful national parks of the American continent - Torres del Paine. Enjoy the view of the Torres on your way to your hostería. Overnight in or close to the Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 18: Torres del Paine National Park
You will start early to make the mTorres del Paine - View of the Torresost of this day. Visit some of the various sites within the park, navigate to the Grey Glacier in a boat or trek on one of the shorter trails to experience this magnificent landscape first hand. Overnight in or close to National Park Torres del Paine.

Day 19: Torres del Paine - Punta Arenas (410 km / 255 miles)
On this approx. 4 to 6 hour drive to Punta Arenas, you can visit the Milodón Cave where scientists discovered the remains of a gigantic sloth. To experience Patagonian wildlife, visit the Penguin Colony at the Otway Sound before arriving in Punta Arenas. Overnight in Punta Arenas.

Day 20: Punta Arenas - Drop off

Not included: International and domestic Air Fare, airport taxes, meals not mentioned, PAI and SACA Insurance (optional), gratuities and personal expenses. In Chile car rental companies charge an additional airport service fee (Hertz rate: USD 8, - per day aprox.) when vehicle will be picked up from airport, this service charge is not included in the rates published above. This extra fee has to be paid upon returning the car.

Notes:
- Prices per person in USDollars.
- Optional service: Bilingual Assistance with pick up of car in Puerto Montt or Punta Arenas: US$ 85 per pick up.
- Please keep in mind that: the 24 hrs rule apply for the car rental, which means that the drop off hour of the car has not to be later than the pick up hour, otherwise we have to charge an extra day of car rental. 
- Hertz categories: J (Nissan Terrano diesel 4x2) / G (Nissan X Trail or similar) / K (Mitsubishi L200 Diesel or similar)
- An optional CDW Supplement can be contracted (to reduce the UF 20 + VAT deductible) for rental car from Punta Arenas. The additional costs is USD 25 per day/vehicle (price subject to changes) and is only possible for categories C, D and J, L ). There is no optional CDW supplement for rentals from Coyhaique/Balmaceda. CDW with deductible do not cover damages of the windscreen when there is no accident or collision.
